How to set "Spend X to Get a Free Item" in the Merchant Portal?


🚀 Spend X to Get a Free Item: Using an intuitive progress bar incentive, this feature guides customers to add more items to their order to unlock a reward. This not only boosts your average order value but also significantly enhances customer satisfaction.


  • Smart Upsell: The cart displays a real-time prompt like "Spend $X more to unlock a gift," using psychological cues to encourage spending.
  • Multi-Tier Incentives: Supports tiered rewards (e.g., $30, $50, $80), attracting customers to reach for higher spending targets.
  • Omnichannel: Works synchronously on both Online Order and in-store Kiosk.


Follow these steps to set it up:


I. Login & Access


  1. Enter admin.fronttab.com in your browser and log in with your merchant account and password.



  1. Navigate to the menu bar: 【Marketing】【Spend X to Get a Free Item】.



  1. On the settings page, click the 【Create Promotion】 button to start.




II. Configuration Guide


1. Basic Information


  • Enable Promotion: The toggle is on by default for new promotions.
  • Name & Channels: Enter the Promotion Name (English/Chinese) and check the Promotion Channels (Kiosk or Online Order).
  • Eligible Customers: You can set this to All customers or restrict it to Members only to drive member registration.


2. Free Item Rules (Multi-Tier Support)


  • Set Threshold: Enter the Minimum spend amount (e.g., $30).
  • Select Gift: Click Select to choose the corresponding free item from your menu.
  • Advanced Play: Click 【+ Add another】 to set higher tiers (e.g., Spend $30 get Spring Rolls, Spend $60 get Fried Chicken).
  • Note: Customers who qualify for a higher tier can choose a lower-tier gift if they prefer, but they are limited to one gift per order.


3. Promotion Period


  • Set the Days Of Week (e.g., Mon-Sun) and the specific Time Period.
  • Select Dates Available or check the Long Term box.
  • After reviewing, click 【Save】.

To ensure the promotion appears correctly on your Kiosk, please follow this order:


  1. Backend Configuration: Complete the steps above in the Admin Portal.
  2. Manual Sync: After saving in Admin, go to Front Station -> More and tap "Sync Data." This pushes the new promotion to the Front Kiosk.

💡 Important Notes


  • Threshold Calculation: The "Minimum spend" is calculated based on the amount after discounts. If a customer uses a coupon or removes items, dropping the total below the threshold, the system will automatically remove the gift from the cart and show a notification.
  • Progress Bar: When a customer is close to the next tier, the progress bar automatically updates the target to help you "close the deal."
  • Scope: This feature is designed for customer self-ordering (Kiosk/Online). If you want to give free items manually at the Station, simply create a $0.00 price item in your menu and add it to the order directly.
