Statement - 1099K
Form 1099-K is an IRS form used to report credit/debit card transactions and third party network payments.
List below is required information the merchant needs for tax report:
Payee's information
Business legal name
Tax ID
Total transaction count
Merchant ID number (MID)
January to December's total amount of payment card/third part network transactions (tips included)
1099K will be sent to the merchant's business address around February of each year by the payment processing company. The receive date varies between business types and locations; some merchants will receive their 1099K in mid-March.
If the merchant still has not received 1099K by the end of March, please contact the sales agent or merchant service to request an electronic version.
Yes, the 1099K from the previous year for a closed account will be delivered to the merchant, to the DBA address.
No, if the account is closed, the mailing address cannot be changed. However, the merchant can contact the sales agent or merchant service team to request an electronic version sent to thier email address.
While the 1099K reports the annual funds received, the monthly statement reports settlement information. Therefore, if a portion of the settlement from the end of December is funded in January of the following year, this portion of the sum will be included in the 1099K for the year that follows rather than this one. Similarly, specific closings from December of last year might be implied in this year's 1009K statement.
The merchant can reach out to their sales agent or merchant service team to request tax ID or legal name updates if they need to update their legal name or fix a tax ID error. IRS Documents and the signer's ID is required for the update request.
Note: The business must obtain a new merchant account if they need to switch to a different tax ID.
There are two possible reasons for the merchant to receive multiple 1099Ks:
The merchant has multiple store sharing the same tax ID.
If the store processed transaction under different tax ID in the same year.
